Installation

Install the 5minread browser extension in a few clicks.

Chrome​

All Chromium-based browsers use the same extension from the Chrome Web Store.

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store
  2. Search for 5minread
  3. Click "Add to Chrome" (or "Add to Browser")
  4. Confirm the installation in the popup dialog
  5. The extension icon appears in your toolbar
Pin the Extension

Click the puzzle icon in your toolbar and pin 5minread so the icon is always visible.

After Installation​

Once installed, the extension is ready to use:

  1. Navigate to any article or webpage
  2. Click the 5minread icon in the toolbar
  3. You'll see the sign-in screen — click "Sign In" to get started

Permissions​

The extension requests these permissions:

5minread does not collect or transmit your browsing history. Page content is only sent to our servers when you explicitly click "Summarize".

Troubleshooting Installation​

Extension doesn't appear after install​

  1. Click the puzzle icon (extensions menu) in the toolbar
  2. Find 5minread and click the pin icon
  3. If not listed, try restarting the browser

"This extension is not available"​

  • Make sure you're using a supported browser (Chrome 88+, Edge 88+, Brave, Opera)
  • Check that your browser is up to date

Extension not working on a page​

Some pages restrict extensions:

  • chrome:// internal pages
  • Chrome Web Store pages
  • Bank and payment pages (Content Security Policy)
