Presets define how your summaries are formatted and what they focus on.

How to Change Preset

Extension

  1. Open the extension popup
  2. Click the preset selector on the Main tab
  3. Select your preferred style from the dropdown

Web App

  1. Open the Summarize page
  2. Click Summarize Settings to expand
  3. Click the preset selector and choose your style

Custom Presets

Create your own presets with custom prompts.

How to Create a Preset

  1. Go to Presets and click the Create Preset button
  2. Enter a name for your preset (e.g., "Technical Analysis")
  3. Optionally add a description to remind yourself what it's for
  4. Pick an icon that represents the preset's purpose
  5. Choose a color for visual distinction
  6. Write your system prompt — instructions that tell the AI how to analyze content
  7. Click Create — your preset instantly appears in the Presets tab on the dashboard and in the preset selector in the extension — your preset instantly appears in the Presets tab on the dashboard and in the preset selector in the extension
Better prompts = better results

The more specific your prompt, the more consistent and useful your summaries will be. Instead of "Summarize the content", try: "Extract key technical decisions, list all mentioned APIs and data structures, highlight performance trade-offs. Use bullet points. Be concise."

Custom presets with full editing capabilities are available on Pro and Max plans. Free users can create up to 3 basic presets.

Marketplace

Discover and share custom presets with the community. The marketplace includes 25+ curated presets for specialized use cases.

Install a Preset

  1. Go to PresetsMarketplace
  2. Browse available presets
  3. Click Install on a preset you like
  4. The preset appears in your preset list

Publish Your Preset

Share your custom preset with others:

  1. Create and test your custom preset
  2. Click Publish to Marketplace
  3. Add a name and description
  4. Select the language your preset is designed for — users can filter the marketplace by language
  5. Add tags (e.g. Education, Research, Business) — tags power search and filtering in the marketplace
  6. Submit for review
Moderation

After submission, your preset is reviewed by the 5minread team before it becomes publicly visible in the marketplace. This usually takes 24–48 hours.
