Auto Highlights

AI-powered automatic highlighting of the most important passages on any web page.

PRO / MAX Feature

Auto Highlights is available on Pro and Max plans.

Overview

Auto Highlights uses AI to analyze page content and extract the most important passages as exact quotes — not paraphrased text. The highlights are saved to your collection and visually marked on the page.

How to Use

  1. Open the extension popup on any page
  2. Click the Auto Highlight button
  3. Wait for the AI to analyze the page content
  4. Highlights appear directly on the page and are saved to your collection

How the AI Selects Highlights

The AI reads the full page content and extracts the most important passages as exact quotes (1-3 sentences each). Each highlight is automatically assigned a category:

CategoryColorWhat it captures
Key FindingPurpleMain conclusions, important findings
Data PointBlueSpecific data, numbers, measurements
StatisticBlueStatistical facts, percentages
Action ItemOrangeRecommended actions, next steps
DefinitionGreenKey term definitions, explanations
QuotePinkNotable direct quotes from people

Category badges are displayed next to each highlight in the extension popup and on the web dashboard.

Number of Highlights

The number of highlights extracted depends on your Summary Length setting:

Summary LengthMax Highlights
Small4
Medium6
Full10
Maximum12

You can change the Summary Length in Settings before running Auto Highlights.

Re-running Auto Highlights

Running Auto Highlights again on the same page replaces the previous auto-highlights for that URL. Manual highlights are not affected.

Viewing Auto Highlights

Auto Highlights are saved alongside manual highlights and can be viewed in:

  • Extension popup — in the Saved Highlights section, grouped by source URL
  • Web dashboard — on the History > Highlights tab

Auto-generated highlights display a category badge (Key, Data, Stat, Action, Def, Quote) to distinguish the type of content captured.

See Highlights for more details on managing your highlights.

Token Usage

Auto Highlights uses your plan's token allowance — the same tokens used for summaries. The token cost depends on the length of the page content being analyzed.
